Helping schools to integrate Personal Development opportunities within the curriculum learning process

What type of programme is it?

It is an Education and Support programme targeting children ages 5-11 and adolescents ages 12-18. It offers educational opportunities to learn about oneself and others. It focuses on various aspects of their lives, which allows participants to build on key areas which will help them to understand themselves and their personal influences (both internal and environmental). The support aspect of the programme offers information, advice, guidance and coaching on how they can reach their full potential.

Aims of personal learning and development support in schools:

  • To support and strengthen self-awareness, self-esteem, social skills, social learning and resilience

  • To promote and improve health and well-being

  • To promote and support emotional intelligence

  • To improve on academic learning and achievement

  • To promote and build interpersonal relationships and supportive networks

  • To promote and support goal setting and action planning for personal and academic achievement

Programme Outcomes

  • Participants​ will be equipped with prior knowledge and understanding about their personal minds.

  • To recognise and strengthen factors which can influence positive behaviour and outcomes.

  • To be alert to their personal thought process, feelings and emotional states and to be creative in facing and managing future challenges.

  • To understand personal behaviour and choices and to be able to critically think, self-evaluate, be creative and solution-focused.

  • An easy to follow action plan, with targets to achieve future short term and long term goals for continued success for personal and academic achievement.

Extra-curricular Support Services

Delivered in schools as after school club services or small group workshops for targeted children.

Become more aware of emotions and the emotional states within the body. Learn how to feel, control, express and release emotions for improved emotional and mental health.

Experience all types of emotions in a safe space and express them through movement and dance:

  • Improve self awareness and expressive communication skills. 

  • Build confidence and raise self-esteem.

  • Be more creative and enhance imagination.

  • Raise vibrational energy and flow with intention.

Supporting teachers and pastoral staff

Teaching / pastoral staff will receive individual one to one support and group workshops: to build better relationships, engage children in learning while empowering and enabling children to meet educational and personal targets. 

Teaching / pastoral staff will also have opportunities to set their own professional targets as well as personal targets. Support to gain a better balance, manage work related stress by building better support systems within school and home. Support to manage classroom disruption. Support for them to be more creative in curriculum planning / session planning. Other areas of support can include: ​

  • Learning Support Plans, Behaviour Support Plans, Recognising and Recording Progress & Achievement 

  • Individual Action Plans
